Driving in Morocco can be fairly intense, especially at night or when driving in the mountains. Moroccans in dark clothes on black bikes and mopeds with no lights in total darkness can be difficult to see. And don't forget the donkey karts, sheep and other livestock.

Having said that, as long as you keep your wits about you, you shouldn't have any problems..

Firstly, wearing a seat belt is compulsory. In Morocco all the major road signs are written in French and Arabic (with the funny writing). The speed limit is 120 kilometers per hour on the motorways and 100 kpm on normal roads. In built up areas and towns the speed limit is between 40 and 60 kpm.

Remember, it's not just the other cars you have to watch out for. There's also crowds of pedestrians, cyclists, motorcyclists, carts and even animals. Moroccans beeps their horn at every chance they get. Don't be afraid to use yours.

If traveling through mountainous areas in winter, expect snow and ice. Morocco has numerous high passes such as the Tizi n Tichka (2,260 m) between Marrakesh and Ouarzazate.
