During the winter months, Mt Toubkal turns into a trekker's paradise. Come and climb this mountain in Morocco, Africa

This is actually probably the best time to visit. There is virtually no one here; it's almost completely deserted, apart from a few local Berbers. The views and bright winter colours are simply spectacular and the air is at its clearest.

Mt. Toubkal (North Africa's highest peak) is 4167 metres high. Other mountains in the area also worth climbing include Ouanoukrim (4088m) and Tizi (pass).

Although crampons and ice axes might be required for some days, most of the climbing is non-technical and suitable to anyone who is enthusiastic enough.

Most organized tours start off in Marrakech, then head straight into the heart of the high Atlas. Typical walking tours are for 5 days, including accommodation and food. Normally the minimum age is 18 and the minimum group size it four - the maximum eight.
