In Essaouira, the northeasterly trade winds normally blow side shore from the right. They can reach up to force seven at times. During the summer months of June, July and August the difference between the land and sea temperatures creates thermals, speeding up the trade winds and producing powerful and demanding conditions.
Sometimes in autumn and winter, the wind direction can change and come from the left. The best time to go windsurfing in Essaouira is normally from April to September.
